Gerald is recognized as an innovative painter and leads the viewer through the entire process, from choosing the components of the composition to applying and combining watercolor and rice paper collage, to completing a mountain landscape painting.

Both the fun and work of his technique is in reacting to the surprises created as the layers gradually build up. Gerald shows you how to turn “accidents” into possibilities, and how to seize opportunities to expand your range of techniques in working with transparent watercolors.

Gerald always strives to capture the feeling of a place and communicate it to others. His goal is to have people familiar with the area recognize the feeling of the Yosemite Valley. He works until, as he puts it, the painting “feels right.”
